Gilbert Guinea Pig came down
To spend a week with friends in town.
They said, "If you should wish to see
The cream of our society,
Upon the Lord Mayor you must call,
And get invited to his ball."
He did, and now the night is here.
The guests arrive from far and near.
See Gilbert, with a lady friend,
The handsome town hall steps ascend.
But at the door he`s left forlorn:
A notice says, "Tails must be worn."
